MacKay Sposito is seeking a skilled IT Specialist with a strong emphasis on networking to join our IT team. This mid-level role provides advanced technical support and is responsible for maintaining and optimizing our network infrastructure, while also contributing to broader IT operations including virtualization, and cloud-based technologies. The ideal candidate brings a blend of hands-on experience with switches, firewalls, VLANs, routing,  hypervisors, networking, and remote access tools management.

MacKay Sposito is a growing firm currently supporting several branch offices in Washington and California. Occasional travel may be required to provide onsite support across these locations.

This position is perfect for someone who enjoys solving complex networking problems, optimizing system performance, and working across multiple IT domains in a collaborative environment. You'll be part of a cross-trained IT team where you can grow your skills, make a real impact, and gain exposure to cloud, virtualization, and enterprise IT systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Networking & Infrastructure Support

  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including VLANs, switches, firewalls, access points, and routers.
  • Maintain and optimize DHCP, DNS, and VPN services.
  • Assist with network segmentation, subnetting, routing policies, and wireless coverage planning.
  • Support and secure remote access technologies including VPN.
  • Monitor network performance, conduct root cause analysis, and resolve connectivity issues.
  • Manage virtual networking within VMware hypervisor environments, including virtual switches, port groups, and network uplinks.

IT Systems & Operations

  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for escalated IT issues involving hardware, software, and connectivity.
  • Support Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments.
  • Administer Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and endpoint management tools.
  • Perform system updates, patching, and endpoint hardening.
  • Assist with user account management, group policy adjustments, and file access control.
  • Participate in system documentation and infrastructure diagrams.

Collaboration & Escalation

  • Collaborate with IT team members on infrastructure projects and implementations.
  • Interface with vendors and third-party support for advanced troubleshooting or escalations.
  • Provide knowledge-sharing and mentorship for other support staff as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in IT infrastructure and support roles with a strong networking background.
  • Proficiency in networking protocols and configuration: VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, routing, and switching.
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware from Cisco, Ubiquiti, Fortinet, or similar vendors.
  • Experience managing VMware/Nutanix/Citrix hypervisor network configurations.
  • Familiarity with Citrix technologies.
  • Experience managing Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Azure AD.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Fortinet NSE or related
  • Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, PRTG, SolarWinds, etc).
  • Familiarity with endpoint protection platforms and centralized management tools.
  • Experience with Physical, Virtual networking within VMWare and or Citrix is a plus

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as various market and business considerations. The wage range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Full-time employees receive a well-rounded benefits package, including access to our company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, HSA and Supplemental Life Insurance plans. 100% company paid Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, and Long Term Disability coverage. Employees are eligible to participate in our company 401k plan with up to a 4% match. Additionally, employees also receive paid vacation time, paid sick time, and 11 paid holidays. MacKay Sposito pays for expenses associated with licensure as well as annual profit-sharing bonuses.
