We are seeking an experienced and well-rounded Engineering Manager to lead various engineering projects, foster staff development, and contribute to business development initiatives. This individual will have knowledge and experience in a wide range of areas including public works, water resources, business development, and technical team development. This position will also play a pivotal role in the management and growth of our engineering practice, ensuring project excellence while cultivating client relationships and driving strategic opportunities.

Responsibilities

Business Development:

  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships. Serve as the primary point of contact for new and existing clients, addressing their needs and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Lead Generation & Acquisition: Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified opportunities by cultivating contacts, networking, and leveraging industry resources to generate new leads.
  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with technical and business development teams to prepare and deliver compelling proposals and presentations that meet client needs and align with company goals.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Establish and nurture partnerships with other organizations, stakeholders, and industry associations to increase the firm's visibility and potential market share.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments, including marketing, project management, and engineering, to ensure the successful execution of business strategies and client projects.
  • Brand Representation: Represent the firm at conferences, industry events, and networking opportunities to enhance the company’s profile and identify potential business prospects.

Project Management / Team Development:

  • Work collaboratively with HR to support recruitment, retention, and career development initiatives that align with company goals.
  • Oversee the planning and completion of various engineering projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address project challenges, optimize resources, and achieve client satisfaction.
  • Implement and maintain project management best practices to support continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and high performance.
  • Identify skill gaps and training needs, coordinating opportunities for skill enhancement and career advancement with HR.
  • Promote staff engagement in industry associations, professional societies, and networking opportunities to enhance both individual and company reputation.

Qualifications:

  • Registered PE in the states of Washington and/or Oregon
  • 15+ years of various Civil Engineering experience 
  • Business development experience driving positive client relationships and new work opportunities with existing and new clients
  • Able to work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment with engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, and other disciplines
  • Experience in various areas including public works, water resources, business development, and technical team development
  • Experience mentoring civil project managers, engineers, and EITs  
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as various market and business considerations.

The wage range for this position is $140,000 - $160,000 per year depending on experience 

Full-time employees receive a well-rounded benefits package including access to our company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, and Supplemental Life Insurance plans. 100% company paid Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, and Long Term Disability coverage. Employees are eligible to participate in our company 401k plan with up to a 4% match Additionally, employees also receive paid vacation time, paid sick time, and 11 paid holidays. MacKay Sposito pays for expenses associated with licensure as well as annual profit-sharing bonuses.
