MacKay Sposito is seeking a full time Survey Party Chief to join our team.  The Survey Party Chief will assist professional land surveyors by operating survey instruments, collecting information and performing computations in the field in support of various types of survey projects.

Keys to Success:

  • Work primarily in the field on control, boundary, right-of-way, topographic and construction surveys in responsible charge of crew in urban and remote areas
  • Accurately run and adjust survey measuring instruments including data collectors, total station (full robotic and manual modes), GPS (with RTN and RTK), digital and auto levels, 
  • Perform complex mathematical and geometric calculations including closing and adjusting level loops and field traverses
  • Review and/or take accurate and clear notes, by recording survey measurements, descriptive data and sketches.
  • Perform in a supervisory role leading crews and directing site work to achieve maximum efficiency and quality on every project.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a high school diploma/GED.
  • 4+ years of survey experience required, including 1+ years of experience as Survey Party Chief.
  • Proficiency operating total stations, GPS Receivers and data collectors (Trimble preferred).
  • Ability to read, interpret and layout from complex design, construction and/or architectural plans
  • Ability to create new or incorporate existing Quality Control procedures for field work to ensure work is done correctly and under identified parameters prior to demobilization from the site
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sources of measurement errors and knowledge to perform analysis of survey data to ensure completeness, accuracy and precision
  • Demonstrated knowledge of monumentation, construction staking and field markings; must have comprehensive knowledge of boundary evidence search for GLO corners and accessories, property corners and other lines of public private ownership.
  • Demonstrated abilities of the following: complex problem solving, critical thinking, listening, reading comprehension, time management, equipment selection, judgment and decision making, and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be a highly motivated individual with strong attention to detail
  • Current valid driver’s license and ability to be insured to drive company vehicles is required
  • Willingness to travel to project locations
  • During site visits, must be able to walk, lift, carry, stoop, bend, twist and work in the outdoors on uneven surfaces routinely. Site visits may include exposure to weather extremes and rough or uneven terrain.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as various market and business considerations.

The wage range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr depending on experience 

Full time employees receive a well rounded benefit package including access to our company sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, and Supplemental Life Insurance plans. 100% company paid Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, and Long Term Disability coverage. Employees are eligible to participate in our company 401k plan with up to a 4% match. Additionally, employees also receive paid vacation time, paid sick time, and 11 paid holidays. MacKay Sposito pays for expenses associated with licensure as well as annual profit sharing bonuses.
